Julian gave his first performance before an audience at Aurora's Tuesday morning assembly today. His Room 3 class sang a song about water, kindness and community. Read into what you will, but it was sweet as pie a la mode, and Julian did a great job, right there in the middle, hand motions, bow, and all.

Kindergarten Jobs

Today Julian announced that he received his job assignment in class. He will be room 3's "Door Holder". We decided that it was a very 'gentlemanly' job indeed.

When 7 year olds text

On Sunday, which was The Mommy's birthday, I went to the spa, and the kids stayed with their Grammy for a while. Zoe wanted to send me a text, which I received after a massage and two hours of pools, sauna, cucumber eyes and salt scrubs. Much to my delight. I knew immediately, that Zoe had hijacked Grammy's iPhone.

First Day of Autumn

Can you guess why Room 1's mascot is named Ox? This week Zoe is VIP, which means among other things, that Zoe's takes home the class mascot. Ox will accompany us on our daily treks and adventures. Little did he know that he'd get a trip to the dentist!

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for these two. Juju could not have been more thrilled. He bounded off in his huge backpack, like a doggie off to the park. Zoe was a little sad to say goodbye to summer this time. She knows as the days get darker, the weeks feel longer, and the work harder. But she too was looking forward to seeing her buddies, and being reunited her old Kindergarten teacher, Nick, who will be her teacher for second and third grade. Julian is already so familiar with the school, after dropping off and picking up Zoe for two years, but never staying. The principal told me later that during his first day of school tour, Julian saw her in her office, threw his hands in the air and yelled, "I'm HERE! I'm finally HERE!!". She was tickled to tears.

Eye exam

Julian has been suffering from near daily headaches for more than a week, so we decided to have his eyes checked. The day before his appointment, I sat him down and we talked about what it was like to have your vision checked. I explained about the big chair, the doctor (who does not give shots), and the machines and lights that they put in front of your eyes. Julian knew just what to expect so he wasn't fearful. He did a great job, AND... his vision is fine. (He is also NOT color blind- obviously we checked for that too!)

This is Zoe's friend Eva from her swim class at the Y. They are both in first grade, and came to be fast friends in class. We went out for pizza after class one night with Eva, her mom and brother. It was a lot of fun, but the girls hated to say 'Goodbye'.

Can't wait to see the 'builder'. A few tiny pieces of his helicopter seem to have gone astray (cats knocking it over), and I am desperate to find them before Julian visits again!
