Looff Carousel

What a perfect day to go to Santa Cruz. It's the hottest day so far this year, and a great start to the summer season. Yesterday, I took Zoe to SF to the Lomography store. They sell a series of "plastic" cameras from yesteryear. The big thing is, they promote FILM use! And their selection of cameras are so cute and trendy. I've had my eye on a Mini Diana F for a long time, and promised Zoe i'd get one for her for her birthday. As I suspected, she picked out the hot pink one. (Camera Geek info as follows...) It shoots 35mm film in a half frame format of rectangular or square. We loaded that little baby before setting off for The 'Cruz. And she snap-happied all day long! I can't wait to see the pictures. Mommy is totally squealing with joy on the inside.

SLO

After driving all morning in the rain, we finally had a chance to stretch our legs and get some fresh air. Jamba Juice and a scamper along the river were just what everyone needed before getting back in the car.

Fairyland Birthday

We took a chance this year on Julian's birthday party. In the past, his birthdays were small gatherings of close friends and family, tribe and neighbors. But this year, since Julian has been in school with close classmates, we thought it would be a good year for a real party with his peers. Now, our house is very small, and can not easily accommodate a dozen children and their parents. So we took a gamble, and planned on a Fairyland party. March is not the best time of year to throw an outdoor party, even in sunny California. We watched the weather ever so closely, and twice had to postpone. But the third time's a charm, and all but one child we invited was able to come! The Tias and Vicar came, the parents came, Teacher Kristi came. Not only was it not raining, but it was sunny and beautiful. Totally worth the wait. We missed the grandparents; both sets having come to celebrate, and both sets missing the Fairyland event. Fun, food and Fairyland enjoyed by all.
