Picnic in Piedmont

After picking up Zoe at Camp Cottontail, we have a little picnic before heading across town get Jujie at Tot Zone. These sunny mid day picnics on the soft grass are so summer perfect... you can just feel the cool leaves underneath your bare feet, and see a lifetime of summer blue skies above.

Friends in high places

Well, they weren't exactly OUR friends...
I guess it's tradition that if you have a summer birthday, of course your parties are at the beach, and if your family are beach bum types, you probably know a lifeguard or three, and if y'all are tight, they may bring the BIG RED BOAT over to your party and spray you all down with the BIG FIRE HOSE. Which is really, really cool if your are say, a 2 to 14 year old... and then cool again, as most things are, when you have kids who are that age.

Le petit artist au travail

This picture really warms my heart cockles. Those in the know will get a poignant extra credit for recognizing her work shirt...

Leapfrog (Or, Zoe goes to work)

Yeah. She's pretty much pulling in $40 an hour right now.
My four year old earns her play money product testing for a major educational electronic gadget company here in Emeryville. Good times.

Taking the Sky Way

Zoe and Mommy cruising the sky way at the boardwalk, Santa Cruz.

Zoe writes her name

So I walk out to the dining room and Zoe says, "Mommy look, I wrote my name".
I look up to the board, and nearly fell over- she did.
I said, "Zoe, where did you learn to do that?"
"From YOU, Mommy! Silly."
I didn't think it really sunk in, we haven't practiced in a long time, and then, Voila! She upchucks something I didn't think she was paying attention to.
Kids are so cool.
