Mini Me

Kristi thought this was hugely amusing. A mini baby carriage requires a mini walk.

Nojoqui Falls

It's good to get out and run during a long road trip. This place is our new favorite stop.

Leaves!

The leaves are too beautiful right now to leave alone.
This is as much fall color as we get in these parts, and in between rain storms, we take those last walks in the woods to last us through to February when it gets warm enough to walk again. Though green is a beautiful color, the golden hues of autumn are a treat to be savored.

Whim day stroll

Whim day may as well be renamed, "Moss Beach Day" because it is really our favorite place to run to when the weather is mild. It doesn't even have to be warm- in the mist, in the cold, in the fog, in the sun, but especially on a mild day in November, it is too perfect. We strolled through the forests of Monterey Pine and Eucalyptus, taking in salty marine air delivered on a warm breeze. We gazed into tidepools and collected treasures on the tideline. Gorgeous day indeed.

Papel Picado

Tonight, the kids and Grammy and I all took BART into the Mission to participate in the festivities of Dia de los Muertos. The kids weren't scared of all of the walking skeletons (which seems to be an SF tradition- everyone dresses up their old fashioned finery, and paints their faces like skulls) and did well in the large crowd. We danced to drummers and salsa bands in the street, we watched the various dancers and performance artists mingling through the crowd of walking dead. We watched the Aztec dancers with their feathered costumes and took in the sights. We stopped to watch a man making papel picado, the same way it's been made forever- with sharp tools, a stack of tissue paper with a design on the back, and a little hammer. Zoe even helped take a crack at it.
